The Observer
As we drive into the bush, I can feel my lungs tighten
I am breathless and speechless as we search for a lion
They are majestic and beautiful, though I’ve never seen them fightin’
I’ve learned to use my camera, raising the ISO to brighten
I use my words to enlighten, inspiring people how to act
One cannot visit Africa, expecting to ride an elephant’s back
These poor animals with all these visitors invading their homeland
Assuming they own the place, taking photos for throwbacks
The photos are great but its nothing compared to sight
How can I compare images with memories so bright
So vivid at night, as we place a spotlight on the fight
It is truly surreal, but what’s not right is the fright we give to the wildlife
Naturally peaceful elephants are now acting crazy
Car flipping in Kruger, was entirely our fault
Now the ele’s been put down, my hope is fading
We humans are the clowns, let us start behaving with thought
